How to Invite the RunePort Bot and Link Your Discord Server

Invite the RunePort bot, connect your Discord server to your RSPS listing, and give your community voting, server lookups, vote reminders, and rank alerts inside Discord.

How to Invite the RunePort Bot and Link Your Discord Server

This guide explains how to connect your RSPS listing to your Discord server, invite the RunePort bot, and prepare your community for RunePort voting.

The bot has grown well beyond voting. Once setup is complete, your players can vote for your server, link their in game name, set vote reminders, look up any listing on the toplist, compare servers, and watch servers for rank alerts, all without leaving Discord.

Add the RunePort Bot to your Discord server:

If the button above does not open, copy and paste this link into your browser:

Before You Begin

  • A RunePort owner account
  • An active RSPS listing on RunePort
  • Your official Discord server
  • Permission to manage your Discord server and invite bots to it
Discord voting requires your listing to be approved and verified. Unverified listings still appear on the toplist, but the bot will not count votes for them until verification is complete. Keep your listing accurate to keep your verified badge.

For best results, use your main community Discord server rather than a temporary testing server.

Step 1: Create or Update Your RunePort Listing

Create or update your RunePort listing with accurate information about your server.

Include your server name, website, Discord invite, game mode, rates, economy style, custom features, PvM content, PvP content, and anything else that helps players understand what makes your server unique.

If you want Discord votes to trigger in game rewards, set up your vote reward callback first. See the callback integration guide. Discord votes fire the exact same reward callback as website votes.

Step 2: Enable Discord Developer Mode

RunePort uses your Discord Server ID to identify which Discord server belongs to your listing.

  1. Open Discord.
  2. Go to User Settings.
  3. Select Advanced.
  4. Enable Developer Mode.

Step 3: Copy Your Discord Server ID

  1. Locate your Discord server in the server list.
  2. Right click the server icon.
  3. Select Copy Server ID.

Make sure you copy the Server ID itself. Do not copy a channel ID, role ID, or user ID.

Step 4: Save the Discord Server ID on RunePort

Open your RunePort owner dashboard and edit your listing.

Find the Discord Server ID field in the Callbacks section, paste the copied Server ID, and save your changes.

This links your RunePort listing to your Discord server. From that point, /rp vote inside your Discord votes for your server automatically, with no server name needed.

Step 5: Invite the RunePort Bot to Your Server

  1. Click the official RunePort Bot invite link.
  2. Select the Discord server you want to add the bot to.
  3. Approve the requested permissions.
  4. Complete the Discord authorization process.
  5. Return to your Discord server and confirm that the RunePort bot has joined.

Official RunePort Bot Invite:
Add the RunePort Bot to your Discord server

The bot registers its commands per server when it joins. If /rp does not appear right away, give it a minute, then restart Discord and try again.

Step 6: Test the Setup

Open a normal text channel and type:

/rp vote

If your Discord server and RunePort listing are connected correctly, the vote is counted for your listing and any reward callback you configured fires immediately. If something still needs to be completed, the bot tells you exactly what is missing.

After a successful vote, the bot offers a reminder button. Players who tap it get a DM when their 12 hour cooldown ends, which brings them back to vote again.

What Your Players Can Do

Voting

  • /rp vote votes for the server bound to the current Discord. Players can also vote for any listing by name with /rp vote server:<name> once they have linked an in game name there.
  • /rp myvotes shows current vote cooldowns.
  • Votes follow the same 12 hour cooldown and anti abuse rules as website votes.
  • The reminder bell after each vote is opt in. /rp reminders off turns all reminders off at any time.

Identity

  • /rp link links an in game name to a listing. Names are stored per server, so players can use different names on different RSPS communities.
  • /rp whoami shows everything RunePort knows about the player.
  • /rp unlink with no server named wipes the player's entire bot record. Privacy is one command away.

Discovery

  • /rp server looks up any listing with rank, activity, and trend info.
  • /rp top shows the current top of the toplist.
  • /rp climbers and /rp sliding show the biggest 7 day movers.
  • /rp compare puts two servers side by side.
  • /rp new shows the newest listings.

Watching and Alerts

  • /rp watch subscribes to a server. Watchers get a DM when a watched server has a significant rating slide, enters or leaves the top 10, or goes quiet.
  • /rp watching lists subscriptions and /rp unwatch removes one.
  • /rp playing lets players tell RunePort which servers they actively play. /rp notplaying removes it.
Discovery commands work in any Discord the bot is in, including your own. Players asking about your server inside your community is a visibility signal on RunePort, so encourage it.

Bot Role Position

If RunePort ever needs to assign Discord roles in your server, the RunePort bot role must sit above any role it manages in your role hierarchy. Discord prevents bots from assigning roles higher than their own. Placing the bot role reasonably high now avoids surprises when role features arrive.

Troubleshooting

The Bot Invite Link Does Not Work

  • Make sure you are logged into the correct Discord account.
  • Make sure your account can invite bots to the selected server.
  • Try opening the invite link in a normal browser window.

Your Server Does Not Appear During Bot Invite

  • Confirm you are logged into the Discord account that owns or manages the server.
  • Confirm your account has the Manage Server permission.
  • Ask the server owner to invite the bot if you do not have enough permissions.

Commands Do Not Appear

  • Commands register per server when the bot joins. Wait a minute after inviting.
  • Confirm slash commands were approved during authorization.
  • Restart Discord and type /rp again.

/rp vote Says the Server Is Not Listed

  • Check that the correct Discord Server ID is saved on your listing.
  • Confirm your listing is approved.
  • Confirm your listing is verified. Discord voting requires the verified badge.

Votes Count but Players Get No Reward

Your RunePort listing and Discord server are now linked. Your community can vote, set reminders, look up rankings, and watch servers directly from Discord, and every vote supports your position on the toplist.
