How to Get More Votes for Your RSPS

Practical ways for server owners to earn more votes on RunePort: where to put your vote link, how to set up rewards and the Discord bot, and how to keep players voting without breaking the rules.

Players rarely vote unless someone gives them a reason and makes it easy. The servers that do well tend to put a vote link everywhere players already are, reward voting automatically, and remind people to come back.

This guide walks through the steps that matter most, starting with the quickest ones.

First, understand what you're climbing

Your position on RunePort comes from your Rank Score, which updates each night using your votes and views for the day. It rewards steady activity more than one big day, so a smaller group of regular voters can do better than a single large push. Today's lists on the homepage give votes more weight than views.

No payment moves a server up the ranked list. Advertising is available, but it's shown separately and clearly labelled.

Step 1: Get your listing ready

  • List your server. If you aren't on RunePort yet, submit your server. Only verified servers enter the nightly Rank Score and can use Discord voting.
  • Claim it if it's already listed. Log in, open your server's page, and send a claim request. An admin then reviews your proof of ownership.
  • Finish your profile. Add a logo, a banner, a clear description, and working website and Discord links from your Owner Dashboard. A complete page gives visitors a reason to stay and vote.

Step 2: Put your vote link everywhere

Your vote page address uses your listing's slug, the last part of your RunePort listing's address:

https://runeport.online/vote/your-server-slug

If your server knows the player's name, you can add it to the link so the username box is already filled in. This reduces typing mistakes that can cost players their reward:

https://runeport.online/vote/your-server-slug?user=PlayerName

Then share it wherever your players already go:

  • In-game: add a vote command that opens the link with the player's name filled in, and remind players when they log in.
  • Your website: place a link in your main navigation, not hidden on a separate page.
  • Your Discord: pin it in a dedicated voting channel and mention it in announcements.
  • Your client or launcher: add a vote button if you have room for one.
  • Forum threads and video descriptions: include it anywhere you already promote the server.

Here's a simple link you can add to your website:

Step 3: Reward votes automatically

A fair reward that arrives right away is the strongest reason to keep voting. RunePort can notify your server each time someone votes, so your server can deliver the reward without staff stepping in. Follow the callback guide to set it up, then read advanced callback integration for security and queuing.

  • Choose something useful without making voting feel mandatory to keep up.
  • Tell players exactly what they get and how they receive it.
  • Test the full process yourself, including names with spaces.
Set clear expectations: Players can vote for the same server once every 12 hours, and for up to 2 separate servers per day. Mention this in your voting channel so players don't assume something is broken.

Step 4: Add the RunePort bot to your Discord

The bot lets players vote without leaving Discord. Follow how to invite the RunePort bot to set it up.

  • Post a how-to-vote card with /rp howtovote.
  • Ask players to run /rp link once so their votes go to the right in-game name.
  • Encourage players to press the reminder button after they vote. The bot messages them when they can vote again, which helps turn one vote into a habit.

Discord votes also unlock reviews and build a streak on a player's profile, so they give players a little more reason to come back.

Step 5: Make your listing easier to trust

  • Show your real player count. Set up live player tracking so your listing shows how many people are online.
  • Ask for honest reviews. Players who've voted using the Discord bot can leave one on your server's page. Don't offer rewards for positive reviews.
  • Share good news. When you climb the toplist or appear in the weekly State of RSPS report, tell your community.

What not to do

Don't try to fake your votes: Bots, vote farms, VPN rotation, and paying for votes aren't worth the risk. Votes pass through a bot check and limits per connection and per username, and unusual patterns are logged for admin review. Faked activity also won't bring you real players.
  • Don't require voting before players can play or get help.
  • Don't ask players to vote using other people's names.
  • Don't send repeated direct messages about voting. One clear reminder system works better and won't annoy people.

A simple plan for this week

  1. Finish your listing and check that your links work.
  2. Add your vote link to your website and pin it in Discord.
  3. Add an in-game vote command.
  4. Set up callbacks and test a reward.
  5. Invite the bot and post the how-to-vote card.

After that, watch the 14-day vote trend on your server's page and give it time. Rank Score moves gradually, so steady votes over a few weeks will tell you more than any single day.
